Ponch's Firebird is actually a restore but is often a modified early 70's Pontiac Firebird that has been through a series of repairs during late 1977[1] through early 1982.[2] This car has suffered two different owners prior to Ponch.[1][3] The car has suffered fire damaged at leased three times during those four years.[3][4][5] The car has been damaged in past by mostly criminals.[1][4][6][7][8][9] The car has been repaired several times which includes being repainted Canyon Copper every time during the time given in an auto body shop, and being through a list of small noticeable changes in styles.[3][10][11][4][12][13][14][6][15][7][16][8][17][18] The car has been totaled at leased three times during those four years.[4][15][2] The car was finally totaled beyond future repairs.[2] The cars previous history before being owned by Ponch[3] is currently unknown except that it was once owned by a psychotic traffic criminal named Niles[1] then his Dad who started it on fire, and decided to sell his sons recently repaired burnt out modified car for eighty three dollars to the highest bidder.[3] The car was once stolen by a gang of female car thieves[4], and almost had it's new set of rims stolen.[19] Ponch finally had sold it for scrap to a junkyard in order to buy a brand new 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am which is actually a beautiful Light Blue.[20]

Niles had accidentally loss the title during his period of ownership of the car, and had put an expired California license plate which actually reads 525 CAT. The one day Niles was racing his buddy Ray on the city streets, and caught speeding on purpose by Ponch and Jon accidentally starting a small police chase. Both Niles and Ray had split up by turning down different side streets.

and tries to turn around. As he is sideways, Jon hits the car and flies over the hood. The speeder takes off on foot as Ponch arrives at the scene of the accident to find Jon in pain.

After Ponch had out bid the tow truck driver who was cut short by only having seventy dollars, and borrow eighty three dollars from Jon finally buying the car from Nile's dad.[3] After Ponch hand taken ownership of the car, and had finally did a title search through the department of motor vehicles to find the cars loss title.

After Ponch had officially got it registered by doing a title search through the department of motor vehicles it was finally given a brand new license plate which is actually 033 PCE.[11]
