Fun Facts

Silverlake Car Wash
  • Molly Cheek went on to get starring roles in It's Garry Shandling's Show and Harry and the Hendersons, and also appeared as Jim's Mom in the American Pie movies.
  • When Jon and Ponch are following the red car they go down Beverly Boulevard. The red car turns down North Westmoreland Avenue (even though Jon says it's 23rd). The Ambassador Dog & Cat Hospital and Silverlake Car Wash (just around the corner) don't seem to have changed since filming. View in Google Maps
  • Chad calls in his sighting of the van from the corner of Victory Boulevard and Variel Avenue. The stores behind the phone booth were only taken down around 2004. View in Google Maps
  • The final chase ends up at the docks, just off West Water Street. Most of the buildings, including the water tower, have now gone, but the dome is still there (Chad did well to follow the van for nearly 50 miles on his bike!). View in Google Maps

Mistakes

  • The blue car involved in the van theft is constantly referred to as a 1970 Mustang when it's actually a 1969.
  • When Jon tries to wrestle Jerry from the van, Jerry is supposed to be unconscious, but you can see him frantically turning the steering wheel.
