Formed in 1850 the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD or LASO) serves the County of Los Angeles, California and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. In "CHiPs" LASO deputies sometimes assist chippies pursuing bad guys [1] and rescuing car accident victims [2]. Deputies can also be seen in K-9 units [3] or county jail [4][5].
Rick Rosner, creator of "CHiPs", created another TV show similar to "CHiPs": "240-Robert". Crossovers between the two shows do not really exist but in the episode "Aweigh We Go" Ponch and Jon are assisted, helping two car accident victims, by two LASO Emergency Services Detail deputies. In "240-Robert" episode "Oil and Water" a CHP traffic officer (driving a slicktop '78 Dodge Monaco) assists the LASO deputies rescuing a hang glider.
