Dwight O. "Spike" Helmick

Dwight O. "Spike" Helmick was the commissioner of the California Highway Patrol from 1995 through 2004.1 He was appointed to the position by Governor Pete Wilson.2
Prior to serving as commissioner, he was appointed deputy commissioner on April 11, 1989.3
As the current commissioner at the time, Dwight was thanked in the credits of CHiPs '99.
His father, Dwight O. Helmick, Sr., passed away in Sacramento, California on November 8, 2007.4
