The Troubled World is a soap opera of which Ponch is a fan.[1][2][3]

Each episode of the soap opera begins with the narration, "And now, the continuing story of the people we know, neighbors of yours and mine, the people living in...The Troubled World."[1]

According to Ponch, "Carrie just told Bob that she's leaving for Brazil with Susan and Jamie." That days episode starts out with Bob revealing that he doesn't want Carrie to leave and fears that she won't return. He loves her.[1]
