The Troubled World is a soap opera of which Ponch is a fan.[1][2][3]
Each episode of the soap opera begins with the narration, "And now, the continuing story of the people we know, neighbors of yours and mine, the people living in...The Troubled World."[1]
According to Ponch, "Carrie just told Bob that she's leaving for Brazil with Susan and Jamie." That day's episode starts out with Bob revealing that he doesn't want Carrie to leave and fears that she won't return. He loves her.[1]
Additional Information
The Troubled World is fictional and never actually existed. The name is likely intended to be reminiscent of soap operas such as CBS's As The World Turns (1956-present) and its spinoff, NBC's Another World (1964-1999).
