Cy Chermak was an executive producer for "CHiPs" starting with "Rustling" and continuing through the rest of Season 1.

Cy has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy awards for his work on Ironside. In 1999, he was nominated for a Humanitas Prize for Rescuers: Stories of Courage: Two Couples for the segment "Aart and Johtje Vos". His segment "The Marie Taquet Story" was also nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award.

Cy Chermak married Francine Carroll (formerly Francine Epstein) on July 7, 1955. They had three daughters including Bonnie J. Chermak. According to the LA Times of November 15, 2007, Francine died on November 9th, at age 83.

Cy died of natural causes on January 29, 2021 in Oahu, Hawaii at age 91.
